Habitat for Humanity

Dedication of the Fort Bend Habitat Village was held on November 8th, 2009.

Fort Bend Habitat for Humanity dedicated the first Habitat Village in Fort Bend County from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 8th, 2009 at 702-735 Habitat Lane in Rosenberg. The event served to honor, recognize and thank the sponsors and volunteers that made the village possible. There was food and music.

The Habitat Village in Rosenberg began three years ago. It was made possible by a grant from Maxine Myers and FairfieldNodal. The grant purchased the land and built the infrastructure — street, water and sewer.
The first house was completed in April 2007 and the 18th and final home was completed in May 2009. In addition to completing the village, the final house also was the 50th house completed by the Fort Bend Habitat affiliate. Habitat Village provides a home for 26 adults and 48 children.

The sponsor groups responsible for the houses on Habitat Lane are: FairfieldNodal (three homes), St. Lawrence Catholic Church (four homes), God’s People: Christ United Methodist Church/Holy Cross Episcopal Church/St. John’s Methodist Church (three homes), the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans (two homes), Clements High School (two homes), St. Agnes Academy (one home), Wells Fargo Bank (one home), Dulles/Elkins High schools (one home) and Fort Bend Habitat affiliate (one home).
